PortableAirConditioner.uk is an independent guide to portable air conditioners for people in the UK. We explain how these units work, help you choose the right size, and show what they cost to run, so you can decide with real numbers instead of marketing claims.

How we work

Product details come from UK retailer and manufacturer listings and were last refreshed on 15 April 2026. Our picks follow stated rules over those specifications, such as the lowest rated noise or the best price for a given room size. We have not tested the units ourselves, and every page that recommends a product says so.

Guides and calculators use published sources where they exist, for example Ofgem for the electricity price cap and manufacturer manuals for installation. Where a figure is an estimate, we say what it assumes.

How the site is funded

The site is paid for by adverts, which are labelled and kept apart from our content. At the moment we do not earn commission when you buy a product, and nobody pays to be included in a pick or a comparison. If that changes, we will say so on the pages concerned and update the privacy policy.

Corrections

Prices change and listings go out of date. If you find a mistake, please tell us and we will check it and fix the page. The date on each guide shows when we last reviewed it.
